Latest Visa-Free Policy

China extends the unilateral visa-free policy for nationals of the following countries until December 31, 2026. Furthermore, China grants visa-free access to Swedish nationals from November 10, 2025, to December 31, 2026.

List of Countries: France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Australia, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Slovenia, Slovakia, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Andorra, the Republic of Korea, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain.

During the validity period of this policy, holders of ordinary passports from the countries concerned may enter China without a visa for purposes of business, tourism, family visits, transit, or exchanges, for a stay of no more than 30 days. 

240-hour Visa-Free Transit Policies for Foreign Nationals

Currently, 65 exit-entry ports in 24 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government of China have implemented the 240-hour visa-free transit policy for foreign nationals from 55 countries.

Foreign nationals from these countries holding valid international travel documents and connecting tickets with information on confirmed dates and seats for transit via China to third countries or regions within specified time frames can apply for visa-free transits at the exit-entry border inspection authorities of the ports in the cities where the visa-free transit policies are in effect. The exit-entry border inspection authorities will then process their applications and grant temporary entry to the eligible foreign nationals. The duration of stay for each foreign national starts from 0:00 on the day following the day of entry.
